Great Ocean Road - car hire?

Can you criticize, please, I would like to save money, but still, see the mountain and surroundings as well: We arrive in Alice Springs 24.10. from Melbourne with a Tiger flight, the tickets cost about $200 for round-trip, we take a car to Alice Springs, by the way, we now search a car in alice, and also spend the night there, go 400 km to Uluru in the morning, seeing the mountain in the evening, one overnight stay near the mountain, in the morning we see that we did not have time for in the evening, after lunch we return to Alice Springs, in the morning, 27.10 we fly back to Melbourne. How do you like this route?
I did not quite understand what this post was about, but since it is swinging along the Great Ocean Road, I would like to say that this one is not so big here. And the ocean from it is far from always visible. Of course, you can go to rearrange times when Australia was just a colony, and the ocean was full of pirates. They told pirate jokes and puns (like at http://jokesfan.com/pirate-jokes.html) in taverns, laughed and drank a lot of rum. But now it can only be imagined. One more thing, there are too many tourists on this road. You will not enjoy the views enough.
